by Lisa Goins, Dwarven Tavern Cyberzine Press
This interview was conducted at MarCon 33 with Lisa and Pat, who were demoing new products and regulars for this convention.
Dwarven Tavern: What's new?
Pat: We have Xenia demo cards, C-23 demo cards, and all our family line of cards this time.
Dwarven Tavern: When will we see anything BRAND new from TSR portion of WotC?
Pat: As you know we are on back order for lot of our products and we are continuing to put out product where we are seeing a profit made. TSR, had cut it's creative staff long before we (WotC) took it over but WotC has the capital to rebuild this staff now. Hey, we even have Gary Gygax (author of Advance Dungeon Master's Guide book, TSR and father of Dungeon and Dragon's ) taking with us!
Dwarven Tavern: How did the Asian Contastion / Change in the Asian market effect WotC Asia market?
Pat: Ah, here's where you will need to talk to Lisa, from our Marketing dept. who deals with our over seas line.
Lisa: The Asian market is a hard to sell with the language and custom difference to overcome but we haven't see any effect on our market as of yet. Now that doesn't mean we won't see change down the road.
Dwarven Tavern: Okay, that's your Asian market. What are your comments on the Euro dollar? Also, could the change of exchange rate help? Depending on the place, rates are 4.5% or more. (Eleven of Europe's countries are combining to use once currency know as the Euro starting Jan 1, 99. They also decided a flat exchange rate for these countries, which were meeting at the time of this interview)
Lisa: We see it helping in the future, especially when Britain joins.
Dwarven Tavern: England states it might join in with in the next 3 to 6 years. This would make the Euro dollar more popular than the US dollar.
Lisa: It would defently mean growth for us and easier to deal with exchange rates.
Thank you Pat and Lisa, Wizards of the Coast Marketing and Personnel Relations
