Currently your wizard is on a trip with a month lay over each way to the destination. Being a clever wizard, he decides to get in all that penmanship on some paper lying about.
As the DM did you allow him to have too much time on his hands? Did the DM give him too much paper? Components necessary…like putting him on a ship with supplies to everywhere? Did the DM roll for weather each hour for the entire trip…ah, lots of dice rolling by the DM will terrify gamers. Then everyone makes every roll against the DM. Next the DM, should get new dice because the ones he has suck.
A month later the first time. Now everyone has ultimate power against everything the DM is throwing at them. Does the DM rank every monster up? Toss high powered evil against the traveling party? Pull out revenge of gods on the party? Surely someone has littered and pissed of Poseidon during the trip, right?
Oh, and heaven-forbid the legal rule keeping player. Those are the best kind to trump…with the rules. Then there is the passive-aggressive player who gets mad when they get it then they can’t use it. DMs just love those. But what to do with this wizard that everyone is relying on so heavily.
Wizards get kidnapped. Wizards lose their voice. Wizards meet other wizards who are not fond of them or worse, they strongly encourage them to join them and take over the world. At which the other players get to kill off the defriended wizard. Nice for those parties of friends who need to get a disagreement out of their system.
So what will you do, DM? You have a wizard on your hands that needs to be knocked off his high horse….another plot twist. Does he even have riding skills?
