Why is it that no one recognizes Superman with glasses on? Can’t you not be Super with glasses? What mysterious power does the optometrist have? Is one better or is two better? What did this person do to Clark Kent’s glasses? Was Clark Kent even referred to an ophthalmologist for eye surgery?
What about the exam? Didn’t this person look into Clark Kent’s eyes? Did they see any signs of diabetes, blood pressure, or a detatched retina? Any damage at all? Superman has been hit in the head and no signs of trauma? What about the glaucoma test? The one with the puff of air? What did that register? Then what about the X-Ray vision? He can turn that off, right? But what if you are looking in his eyes, can he turn it off or did you just get a free burst of radiation to the face? Did his eyes make any sound when this happen? Pupil changes?
Now pupil changes can tell a lot about someone. Pupils can tell health providers if the person is anxious, medicated, and if their vision is really, really, really good? We do have machines that can tell what your vision is now.
The other problem is IF he did see into the next room and read the eye chart, do you realize the eye charts are similar? Clark Kent should have been told he had 20/20 vision. If he protested and wanted glasses, he would had been referred to an ophthalmologist for follow up.
Nope, Clark Kent is wearing drug store “readers” off the dollar rack. This is why he isn’t worried about keeping up with his glasses. It also makes him look silly since he has more than one pair laying around. This helps keep up with his identity.
Yet, in the New 52, Clark Kent now has Diana Prince wearing readers. So they look intelligent and possibly couldn’t be Superheroes.
So the next time you see me, you won’t recognize me. I will have my glasses on at the next convention. However, my “Dwarven Tavern” shirt will most likely give away my secret identity.
